Mia Fernandes is an artist working in the South West of France.
Her ceramic sculptures and drawings focus upon the environment, nature, time, symbolism and memories. She has created large permanent installations for Hospital, Schools and businesses and one off pieces for private collectors and galleries.
Mia was born in the UK and grew up in Canada, USA & the UK. She studied at the Royal College of Art, Goldsmiths College and Winchester School of Art. This led to an international career where she has been awarded and received fellowships by the Arts Council of England, Triangle Trust, Jacob Mendelson Trust, Philadelphia Clay Studio, Kunming Gallery Yunnan, British School of Brussels and Tasara Centre India.
She has been teaching since 1993 in various institutions and her specialism is in creating public art pieces involving community projects.
