Drawing and clay

Updated: Apr 24, 2020

Drawing is the physical reality of consciousness, it is a mark made, extracted, impressed, cut, formed, smudged and manipulated.

When I use the word drawing I realise the idea of creating a two dimensional illusion comes to mind. As a pencil touching paper, a grey line providing a perspective of the artist.  AND in clay this is a reality, where the oxide or stain are laid onto the surface of a form, marks created by the maker. The voice of the maker is spontaneous and the dots and dashes and lines sink into the skin of the material. These marks have another dimension, as their physicality creates form.

Then there is the inner and outer space where drawing is three-dimensional.
